Blue jay

Cyanocitta cristata

Member of the Corvus family, blue jays are rowdy, loud, intelligent birds.  Common backyard birds, they’re identified by their screaming cries of “Jay jay” and brilliant blue plumage.

I’ve skinned two, both young birds, and they’re hard to come by.  Being so intelligent, they rarely fly into windows unless they think their reflection is a rival.  Most are car kills.  I think they’re relatively easy, despite their long tail and thick bill.
